Tech Tribe Academy ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website and platform ("Service"). We primarily operate in and comply with Nigeria's Data Protection Act / Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), and we also apply general international best practices for users accessing the Service from outside Nigeria.
02Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: full name, email address, and password (securely hashed).
- Payment information: for paid course purchases, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor (Flutterwave). We do not store your card details ourselves.
- Payout/bank information: if you participate in our referral program and earn commissions, we collect your bank name, account number, and account name to process manual payouts.
- Learning activity: video watch-time, lesson completion status, quiz results, and course progress, used to power features like your dashboard, streaks, badges, and the leaderboard.
- Referral data: if you sign up using a referral link, we record who referred you.
- Contact form submissions: name, email, and message content if you contact us.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, and general usage data collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.
03How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To provide access to free and purchased course content
- To track your learning progress and power gamification features (streaks, badges, leaderboard, quizzes)
- To calculate and pay referral commissions
- To send essential account emails (signup confirmation, password reset)
- To respond to messages sent through our contact form
- To maintain the security and integrity of the platform
- To identify and remove inactive accounts (see Section 6)
04Third-Party Services
We share limited data with the following third-party services, solely to operate the platform:
- Supabase: database hosting and authentication
- Flutterwave: payment processing for course purchases
- Brevo: transactional email delivery (signup confirmation, password reset)
- Cloudinary: video and image hosting
- YouTube (Google): hosting for free course videos, subject to Google's own privacy policy when videos are played
- Vercel: website hosting
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
06Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. To keep the platform focused on engaged learners, accounts that show extended inactivity (no logins or course activity over a prolonged period) may be reviewed and removed at our discretion. When an account is deleted, associated personal data, learning progress, and referral records tied to that account are permanently removed from our active database.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing

08Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted password storage, row-level security on our database, and restricted admin access, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
